This aerial panorama of Sonoma Raceway was taken by James Blakeway during a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™ race. Formerly known as Sears Point Raceway and Infineon Raceway, Sonoma Raceway is a 1.99 mile road course and drag strip located on the landform known as Sears Point in the southern Sonoma Mountains near Sonoma, California. It opened in 1968 on 720 acres of property. Today, the Raceway has more than doubled in size and become one of the premier motorsports venues in the country, hosting 340 days of racing activity each year. The course is a complex series of twists and turns that go up and down the hills. The Raceway is located just 30 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
