This panorama of Washington-Grizzly Stadium was taken by Robert Pettit. It captures the University of Montana Grizzlies playing their first regular season game against the Appalachian State Mountaineers in front of a sellout crowd of 26,293 fans. Washington-Grizzly Stadium sits at the base of Mount Sentinel next to the Clark Fork River in the picturesque city of Missoula, Montana. The Griz won the 1995 and 2001 National Championships in Division I Football Championship Subdivision Football, formally known as Division I-AA. The University of Montana Grizzlies played their first football game in 1897 and are one of the founding members of the Big Sky Conference.
