This game marks the first time that Washington State University hosted ESPN College Game Day on campus. The event was 15 years in the making, beginning on October 4, 2003, when the WSU™ Ol’ Crimson flag first appeared in the crowd at the College Game Day broadcast. That same flag has traveled the country and materialized on the set of every Game Day broadcast since that date, 217 shows. The signature flag even has its own Twitter account and booster club.
